Supplies can also be rented for $15 per class, so if you want to try a new medium this is a great way to do so without investing in all of the supplies.

To get the most out of your watercolor experience, we recommend that you have an intermediate to advanced knowledge of watercolors before you take one of Joe's watercolor classes at Red Brick Gallery.

Learn to make water look wet, reflective and splashy by portraying the movements of water using spattering, gesture, negative painting and dynamic darks and colors to keep your painting fresh and loose.

Spend an afternoon with Joe creating soft, dreamy nature scenes as you learn to successfully paint wet-into-wet luminous landscapes. Learn to capture soft sunlight and dramatic shadows as you paint mid-tones, darkest darks and  add glowing glazes.

Joe will help you achieve the varied qualities of light as you turn the white of your paper into sunlight and reflections.  He will share the special effects of sunrises, sunsets, rainy twilights and moonlight winter nights.    You will develop cloud formations and your painting confidence at the same time.

Learn to create your subject simply by painting around the object rather than painting the object itself. See how adding layers of paint with glazing adds depth, interest and excitement to your art.   This is a striking and fun filled approach to painting.
