I capture a specific time and place.  I sit and wait for the colors of the day and the textures to come out in the landscape; I wait for that time that has captured the feeling of the experience. Moments caught on film hold memories of places and times once relished.  It is the small pieces of life and the places difficult to get to that, I find the most inspirational.

My camera was my first tool to capture the moment and from that I discovered the textures in color and in the details and began painting.  Now I move between the two mediums loving to create with both the tools of the brush and light in the camera.  I love to feature the small things in the world in a fresh way by focusing on shape, movement and the harmony of colors.

In painting I consider myself an abstract colorist choosing to focus on how color resonates on the canvas along with a form that can be seen as may different elements by the viewer allowing them to interject their own thoughts into a piece.   Currently I am exploring several series of Color Scapes, where the main element of a canvas is the variety of colors and how they integrate with one another, abstract landscapes and close views of florals.

A new selection of pieces that I have been concentrating on includes integrating my photography with painting in a digital manner; these digital paintings focus on graphic qualities of the art with line and color integration as key components to the overall composition.  Currently the subjects include flowers and trees representing the small as large and the grand as miniatures.

Jennifer is the owner of the Red Brick Gallery and enjoys the opportunity she has to show emerging and mid-career artists from across the country.
