"Red Brick Art Scholarships" represents Red Brick Gallery’s newest project to give back to the community with art scholarships for underprivileged kids and teens. A portion of the proceeds from each of artist reception will go to providing supplies for a series of free art classes for kids 7-17, bringing art to kids who truly need an avenue to express themselves.
The first group of students is from the Kingdom Center and Red Brick Gallery is reaching out to all underprivileged children and young adults who might not have access to other art programs with these free classes. Art can help to give theses students a voice and empower them through artistic expression; it helps them to re-build their confidence and their pride.
Red Brick is providing several beginning classes to younger kids teaching them the fundamentals of art in a variety of mediums. The older students who already have some art experience are able to hone their skills with direction by professional artists. Through this artistic outreach the kids will be encouraged to develop their own creative expression. When we were all children, we got to be creative every day, we were encouraged to explore the world, try new things, create art, and solve problems as creatively as possible. Now there is an opportunity to connect with these children and we are introducing art to them in a safe place, at Red Brick Gallery, where they are able to express themselves in a healthy, fun and creative way.
The girls at Red Brick Gallery are asking for others to share in the magic of bringing art to local children in need. Art is powerful, healing and it helps all children in so many ways. Research suggests that creativity is closer to a need than a want in terms of maintaining good mental and physical health. This small contribution to their lives will help make their world a nicer place today and will help them to create a brighter future for themselves by empowering them through their artistic expression.
This will make Ventura a better place for all, if you know someone who would be a good candidate for our program or if you would like to help us with our project please contact Jen and Phyllis at Red Brick Gallery 805-643-6400 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
