Painting An Outdoor Café Scene

As we create our street scene, we’ll explore textures, shadows, depth, perspective, and adding landscaping, and loose abstract figures to bring our setting to life. We will paint this scene using glazing, wet-into-wet, lifting, and many more techniques as we create the sun soaked buildings, daytime sky, the windows, shutters, tile rooftops, and the figures under the café umbrellas. We will also experiment with using different foliage applications to depict various environments, such as a California or New York Street scene. This will be a fun class with lots of new learning opportunities.

There are almost as many ways to paint trees, as there are artists. The tree types and the techniques to paint them are endless. As we explore many of these, you will discover your favorites to add to your landscapes, either as a focal point, to add shade and shadows, or as a background element. Each tree has its own personality, its unique branching style and its shape of leaf clusters. This class is fun and easy and you will come away with an understanding of all that is necessary for a variety of realistic looking trees for your landscapes paintings.
