Panoramic Landscapes
Sunday, May 26th, 1-4pm $49 each or $64 with supplies I love painting panoramic pieces, the long skinny nature of the canvas leads to a unique scale. Choose from a variety of panoramic paintings including landscapes, tree-scapes, celestial inspirations and abstracts, and more. There are lots of possibilities, bring your own or pick from Jen's. You can choose to create your piece as a vertical or horizontal. Bring a couple of smaller 4x12 canvases or work on a larger piece. |
Tropical Scenes
Saturday, July 6th 12 pm - 3 pm $49 each or $64 with supplies included Capture the essence of the tropical life inspired by places like Hawaii and Fiji in this fun class all about vibrant colors and warm locations. You can choose to paint a variety of tropical paintings including beach landscapes, big waves, flowers, surfers, and more with depth and layers. Jen will walk you through all of the steps in painting to create a unique painting with a tropical touch. |
Fluid Acrylic Landscapes and the Sky
Sunday, July 28th 1-4pm $49 each or $64 with supplies Learn how to create a unique painting using Fluid Acrylics, and High Flow Acrylics. You will learn a variety of techniques to control the paints and how to let them move on their own. Both mediums are very fun to use and can create unique effects, some that are similar to the bleeding and magic of watercolors and others with a brighter feel of acrylics. We will work with adding focal elements including land, moons, stars, and more. Supplies needed for class: Canvas (several 8x10 or 1-2 11x14 or 16x20 canvases or similar) Several different colors of High Flow, Fluid Acrylics Brushes |
Mixed Media and Collage
Sunday, August 18th 1-4pm $49 each or $64 with supplies Learn to layer paints with texture and other elements to create a unique painting. In this class, students will be able to create 2 different 8x10 paintings full of texture and color. In one painting students will learn how to collage with painted papers as a background or on the foal element. The other painting students will work with layering colors and textures with background stenciling and how to incorporate other objects within their pieces. Subject options are endless, but in this class, we are going to focus on flora, Butterflies, Dragonflies, Birds, Abstracts, and Trees. If you have another subject you would like to explore please feel free to bring your ideas. |
Class Supplies Recommended
The better your supplies the easier it is to paint and learn. If you have any questions please feel free to give Jen a call 805-827-1095, please note you do not need everything below, this is what I like. Canvas - 12x12, 11x14 or 16x20 Brushes - Brand I recommend Silver Brush several sizes ans shapes including: Filbert, angle, large wash brush and small round or liner. This is a great place to purchase any of the brushes from Silver Brush Some of the brushes I like the best are: Firmer brush Bristlon Brushes, softer brush Black Pearl and my most favorite (and more expensive) Monza Medium -Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid Paints - There are so many colors to choose from, this is a list of some of my favorites. Brand that I suggest is Golden Heavy Body Acrylics for most painting you can get a set of basic colors to get you started and add from there. Must Have Color - Titanium White Neutrals

Instructor: Jen Livia is a native Californian, receiving her art degrees from UC San Diego, San Francisco Art Institute and Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She is a Golden Working Artist for Golden Artist Colors and Silver Brush Educator presenting lectures, demonstrations and workshops in acrylics, watercolors, and mosaics in Central California. She has been painting since she was a kid and teaching art for over a decade. She teaches over 3,000 people a year in Ventura's Elementary Schools and at Red Brick. Her knowledge of painting and the all of the GOLDEN Artist products will hopefully help inspire you and she looks forward to helping any level of painter develop their own creativity.
